Hayleys Fentons and Hayleys Solar Secure Three Prestigious Awards at Sri Lankan Sustainability Awards 2025

Hayleys Fentons, together with its renewable energy arm Hayleys Solar, secured three prestigious accolades at the Sri Lankan Sustainability Awards 2025, comprising the Sustainability Business Leader of the Year Award, Sustainable Communications Campaign Award, and Sustainable Technology Provider Award.

The Sustainability Business Leader of the Year Award reflects the integrated approach to sustainability of Hayleys Fentons. This recognition is a result of several key initiatives: the achievement of a 250 MW milestone by Hayleys Solar in 2024. Through its Renewable Energy drive, the company has created green jobs, empowered communities, and built local capacities by generating direct and indirect employment opportunities. In addition, CSR programmes such as Fentons Sathkara, Soorya Sathkara, and Roots of Resilience have supported underserved communities and ecosystem restoration. Together, these efforts demonstrate the measurable social, environmental, and economic impact of Hayleys Fentons.

The ‘Nayak Nowana Nayak’ campaign, a customer-centric initiative launched to accelerate solar adoption across Sri Lanka, earned the Sustainable Communications Campaign Award. Meanwhile, the Sustainable Technology Provider Award recognised Hayleys Solar’s landmark contribution to agrivoltaics through Sri Lanka’s first semi-transparent solar PV-powered Agrivoltaics Demonstration Project – a project in partnership with the Asian Development Bank (ADB), the Sri Lanka Sustainable Energy Authority (SLSEA) under the Ministry of Power and Energy, the Tea Smallholders Development Authority (TSHDA) under the Ministry of Plantation Industries, and the University of Peradeniya.

Commenting on the achievement, Hasith Prematillake, Managing Director of Hayleys Fentons Limited, said: “We are honoured to be recognised as Sri Lanka’s Sustainability Business Leader. This acknowledgment reflects our commitment to integrating innovation, community empowerment, and environmental stewardship across every facet of our operations.  As we continue this journey, we are poised to make history as the first local company to surpass 500 MW of solar installations by the end of 2025.”

Roshane Perera, Director/Chief Executive Officer of Hayleys Solar, added:
“This recognition is a testament to the dedication and expertise of our teams. Sustainability is the foundation of our strategy, shaping how we innovate, empower communities, and create long-term value for the nation.”
