DIMO, the sole authorized general distributor of Tata Motors in Sri Lanka, has successfully completed the first large-scale fleet acquisition of Tata SIGNA Prime Movers to International Logistics & Movers (Pvt) Ltd (ILM), solidifying its position as the authority in Automotive Excellence for more than 85 years. Following the market’s reopening for vehicle imports, this milestone represents a critical turning point in the nation’s logistics industry.
Reinforcing its dominance, Tata from DIMO remains the No. 1 choice in the Prime Mover segment in Sri Lanka with over 100 Prime Movers sold in the last financial year alone.
With plans to expand to 50 units soon, ILM, a leading provider of logistics, warehousing, transportation/IHC, customs brokerage, door-to-door operations, and project cargo solutions, has already acquired 22 units of Tata SIGNA with this vehicle delivery by DIMO. ILM’s strategic move to enhance operational efficiency includes investments in fleet expansion, with a particular focus on inter-terminal transport operations at the ports of Colombo and Hambantota.
Commenting on this momentous occasion, Mr. Hadley Rodrigo, the Chairman/Group CEO of International Logistics & Movers (Pvt) Ltd, stated, “Tata SIGNA prime movers are designed for higher payload capacity, enhanced fuel efficiency, and superior driver comfort—key factors in optimizing logistics operations in the industry. Additionally, DIMO’s unmatched after-sales support, ensuring seamless maintenance and service, was a decisive factor in our choice of Tata vehicles for this expansion initiative.”
Emphasizing the significance of this delivery, Mr. Rajeev Pandithage, Executive Director of DIMO, stated, “This historic procurement confirms the faith in DIMO and Tata’s demonstrated product quality while paving the way for the country’s first significant corporate fleet acquisition since the market reopened. It demonstrates DIMO’s steadfast dedication to providing dependable, highly effective commercial vehicles that drive business success with its unmatched aftersales capabilities around the clock covering the entire country. Tata’s positioning as a premium, high-end commercial vehicle supplier is best illustrated by the SIGNA Prime Mover series, which combines cutting-edge capabilities with top-notch engineering to meet the growing demands of contemporary logistics while delivering long-term value and superior returns for customers.”
With a substantially greater payload capacity than earlier models, ILM has chosen to use a combination of Tata LPS 5530 SIGNA Prime Movers and Tata LPS 4018 SIGNA models. For maximum longevity and fuel efficiency, the SIGNA series’ improved engine, which produces exceptional power, is paired with the well-known 9-speed GRT gearbox.
With its luxurious cabin interiors, three-way adjustable mechanically suspended driver seat for posture support, high-speed USB charging outlets, spacious sleeper berth, and sun visors for better visibility, the SIGNA series goes beyond performance to offer a new level of driver comfort. Tata’s dedication to driver and passenger safety is further demonstrated by the trucks’ Emergency Locking Retractor (ELR) seat belts.
With these developments, the Tata SIGNA series raises the bar for commercial mobility by providing top-notch engineering and high-end technologies that are suited to the changing needs of modern logistics.
