WindForce PLC, Sri Lanka’s leading renewable energy company, has officially commissioned the 10 MW Sooryashakthi Solar Power Project in Vavunativu, Batticaloa. The inauguration took place on July 26, 2025, marking a significant milestone in the country’s transition to clean energy.
Developed in collaboration with Vidullanka PLC, the project was executed under WindForce’s full Engineering, Procurement, and Construction (EPC) scope. The solar facility, situated on 27 acres of high-salinity land previously unsuitable for agriculture, is expected to contribute approximately 19.5 GWh annually to the national grid.
The plant features 22,048 photovoltaic modules and 34 string inverters to ensure high efficiency and operational reliability. Despite seasonal flooding that delayed construction, the project was successfully completed on schedule through effective coordination with local and government stakeholders.
