The company continues to drive initiatives that promote sustainable practices and societal development by focusing on ESG pillars.
As part of its continuous environmental efforts, the company recently launched a key initiative that focusses on the collection of PET plastic, and the promotion of responsible recycling and waste management. The aim of this initiative is to reduce the environmental impact of PET, while also instilling sustainable habits to the youth.
Mrs. Eresha Kumuburulanda, Head Legal, Compliance & Sustainability, Varun Beverages Lanka Pvt Ltd, stated “At Varun Beverages Lanka Pvt Ltd, we follow the ESG principles, with a strong focus on environmental and social well-being. Under this framework, we have implemented several impactful projects. A major step in our effort was supporting Kodippilikanda Vidyalaya by providing bags and stationery for the students. Additionally, we planted a ‘Bo’ tree and began the construction of a Buddhist mansion, further demonstrating our commitment to community growth and sustainability, also to create an environment to motivate the school children to dispose the PET plastic in an environment friendly- manner.”
In addition to its environmental stewardship, the company also demonstrated its unwavering dedication to educational and cultural development. A recent initiative saw the company construct a Buddhist shine and plant a sacred ‘Bo’ tree at the Kodippilikanda School. The aim was to create and provide a space for spiritual reflection and reinforce cultural and religious values amongst the students. Varun Beverages Lanka also donated school bags and essential supplies to students in a bid to further support education and encourage the academic growth of the generations to come.
