In response to the current COVID-19 outbreak, vivo, the global smartphone brand donated LKR 1 million worth surgical masks to the Ministry of Health, Sri Lanka.
The donation which is a part of the vivo’s CSR initiative #vivocares, included 15,000 surgical masks that would be utilized by front line medical workers of the Sri Lankan healthcare industry, who continue to work under difficult circumstances and rigorously fight against the spread of the virus. vivo Mobile Lanka understands the importance of protecting the healthcare workers and hence is taking special initiatives to ensure safety of these caregivers.
The surgical masks consignment was handed over to the Minister of Health and Indigenous Medical Services, Pavitra Wanniarachchi at the Ministry premises today (April 09th) by vivo Mobile Lanka’s Director, Alison Jin.
Kevin Jiang, CEO, vivo Mobile Lanka, said, “In these crucial times, it is vital that we all stand united and contribute towards containing this global health pandemic. We have planned to postpone all our new offline product launches during this period. We also acknowledge the role caregivers play in these crucial times and wish to support the government to ensure their safety.”
